Buy the fishing license and bait for fishing and at 12:00 we are at J-Dock ready to departure with the water taxi.

Fresh fish is prepared at J-Doc


We are boarding the taxi to Orca Island Cabins and departure some minutes after 13:00 - some passengers came too late.....

... we are reaching Orca Island Cabins about 1 hour later.

After short introduction we obtain our Jurte Murrelet


and are suprised how comfortable it is


It´s a wonderful place and I enjoy a drink at the waterfront




We accustom ourself in the new environment....





... play cards and fall asleep early.
There is NO mobile network and NO Internet out there!

early in the sunny morning I install the HF Antenna


and test my equipment



... unfortunately NO connections to Europe possible....

During breakfast a Hummingbird is visiting us

...what a lovely suprise!!!!

We go for fishing


and Sea Kajaking


It's a wonderful sunny day in Paradise.
After dinner we prepare some S'more on the grill

Light rain.
We are preparing for walking the trail to the Iron Door - some ramains of World War 2 - and proceed to the start of the trail with the boat


Bear Spray is with us                                         ... and we discover the track of a bear
    

... so we return back to the boat !!

... but the wood is awsome beautyful

Home in the Jurte we enjoy dinner and discuss the sightings of today

Chapter 5: the Return

It`s raining.
Small breakfast and packing our luggage - then return to Seward with the water taxi.
Good by Orca Island Cabins


We enjoy some hot drink at

... and I return the battery and charger to Ray K4TCJ who is living near to the SeaLife Center in his Airstream


It was a pleasure to meet Ray K4TCJ


.... and I hand over some present for Jeff N8EX who is currently on vacation


Taphouse opens at 16:00 and we go for dinner


and at 18:00 the Alaska Railroad train to Anchorage starts rolling.

We enjoy the view from the top...


... the incredible train itself making a steep narrow bend ...


with wine in plastic ...


... and observe a Black Bear


Max speed was around 70km/h.
We arrive very late in Anchorage - at 22:15


It was indeed a highlight to see a Black Bear during the travel with the train.

We order a Yellow Cab and check in at the hotel - we enjoy very much the hot shower.

30. July: the flight back to Vienna
We get a good breakfast at the hotel ...


... buy some goodies


... visit the center of Anchorage


and take the Yellow Cab to the Airport.


The 9 hours flight to Frankfurt passed by that fast


... and despite there were some troubles in Frankfurt

(I forgot my mobile phone in the plain and security check was very slow and our handbags could not be scanned due to an errror in the machine)

we reached hot Vienna on time.

It was an extraordinary adventure to see foreign nature and to discover myself in the remote wilderness between Mountains, Glaiciers and the Sea of Alaska.
